About
Shelby holds an Associate of Arts degree in Speech Communication from South Plains College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University, and a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University. She started working in international admissions and credential evaluation in 2003 and is passionate about international credential evaluation.
She currently works as Senior Representative for the Global Transcript Evaluation team at Adtalem Global Education, a system of 5 private universities. She previously worked for a credential evaluation company, a public community college, and a public research university; she was also an adjunct speech instructor for two years.
A graduate of NAFSA Academy for International Education (Class IV, 2007), Shelby has presented several admissions-, credentials-, and recruiting-related sessions at regional and national conferences and was chosen as a delegate for the 2007 Baden-Württemberg Seminar in Stuttgart, Germany. She served as the RAP/admissions liaison for NAFSA Region III (2008-2010; 2017-2018) and as the Region III cohort coach for the NAFSA Academy of International Education (Classes VIII-X, 2011-13). Shelby also is a member of the NAFSA Trainer Corps, served as co-credentials editor of NAFSA’s Admissions & Credentials newsletter wRAP-Up (2010-2012), and is a NAFSA Online Guide to Education Systems Around the World contributing author (Hungary, 2009; Equatorial Guinea, 2015; Costa Rica, TBD; and Nicaragua, TBD). Shelby serves Vice President of Resources and Knowledge Management (2022-2023) for TAICEP: The Association of International Credential Evaluation Professionals and previously served as Secretary/Member of the Board of Directors. Shelby received awards for Outstanding Service in Advising (Texas Tech University Department of Communication Studies, 2006) and for Outstanding Service to International Education (NAFSA Region III, 2014), and she was elected to TAICEP’s Hall of Acclaim (2021). She is a member of TAICEP (charter member), NAFSA, Texas International Education Specialists, and the Association of Metroplex International Educators.
In her free time, Shelby enjoys playing the piano and flute, is a devoted Anglophile, and loves watching British television and reading mysteries.
