My colleagues Stephanie Cloninger (AACRAO), Matthew Cwiklinski (Scholaro, Inc.), Lindsey Gullicksrud (Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc./ECE), and I recently prepared and delivered a pre-conference workshop at the 2024 TAICEP Annual Conference in Quebec City entitled “Survey of Religious Education”. This four-hour workshop covered pontifical, madrasah, and yeshiva education in depth, with a focus on secondary and post-secondary academic credentials. We covered the following:
- Samples of religious education documents that credential evaluators might see
- How to find the appropriate recognition or confirm that there is no legal recognition, including a discussion about approved versus recognized (i.e., allowed to operate versus allowed to operate AND getting a higher secondary certificate which allows access to tertiary education)
- How to find legislation governing religious education
